All gifts received in response to this challenge will be used to support the purchase of a new mammography machine with tomosynthesis (3D imaging) to support our growing number of breast cancer patients with better outcomes. Specifically, tomosynthesis allows for better results and screening for dense breasts, reduces false-positive rates, allows for earlier detection of breast cancer with symptoms and improved detection of breast cancer in women with no symptoms.
Breast cancer is a disease that effects so many in our community with Headwaters mammography volumes topping 3,600 annually. Achievement of our matching goal, together with the Morningview Foundation donation, will allow Headwaters to purchase this important advancement in breast cancer detection.
