Headwaters Health Care Centre welcomes new President & CEO, Kim Delahunt

February 10 2020
Kim Delahunt joined the Headwaters team in early October as Interim President & CEO and in January she was officially welcomed to the position as President & CEO permanently. Since then she has built and strengthened relationships with staff, physicians, volunteers, donors, the Foundation team, and with our broader community.

Kim has a long history in health care. As the former Vice President, Heath System Strategy, Integration and Planning at the Central West Local Health Integration Network, she was a supporter of the hospital and the Dufferin-Caledon community. She has many years of progressive leadership experience and has been involved in virtually all areas of healthcare including direct care, the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, primary care, acute care, long term care and more.

During her short time with the team at Headwaters, she has successfully furthered the development of the Hills of Headwaters Collaborative Ontario Health Team. On December 6th in an official announcement by the Province of Ontario, the Collaborative was named as one of the Province’s first 24 Ontario Health Teams. The Hills of Headwaters Collaborative includes the hospital, other local health and social care organizations, providers as well as patients, families and caregivers that are working together to improve the health and well-being of Dufferin-Caledon.

She looks forward to continuing to build relationships within the hospital and community and learning more deeply about how she can be of service as the new President & CEO. “I am thankful for the opportunity to work with all of you and learn from you. I look forward to the future, building on the great work already underway here.”

Kim and her family, including a large-breed dog named Oakley (a Leonberger), live in the Terra Cotta area.

What excites you about being a part of the Headwaters team?
I am struck by the level of teamwork that I see happening throughout the hospital. I have already seen so many examples of how staff, physicians and volunteers worked together to get something done. I feel privileged to be a part of a team and a community that is so supportive of one other and committed to getting even better.

What are your priorities for the next six months?
A lot of work has been set in motion on our priorities based on our new strategic plan. I’m taking the time to meet with people and understand more about their work. I want to build on the momentum. This includes moving forward with improvements to our facilities. Future renovations to our Emergency Department and Dialysis Unit will help improve the care we deliver and make every dollar count for our patients and community.

What is your vision for the future of Headwaters?
My vision for the future of Headwaters involves offering more care, closer to home. As our community grows it is important that we continue to improve the services we offer while still leveraging the great partnerships we have with other local health and social care providers. I have no doubt that with the support of our community, Headwaters will be a leader in innovation, research and technology. I already see a hospital that embodies patient centered care and I know our future will build upon that.

What are some of the things you have learned since coming to Headwaters?
Our strength is our people. It’s amazing the difference we can make when our hospital and community are united and working towards the same goals. I have quickly learned that our new values; kindness, passion, courage and teamwork, are not only shared amongst our physicians, staff and volunteers, but extend to our larger community. We are fortunate to have such generous donors in our community who care about investing in the future of hospital, truly creating One Community, Caring Together
