A Message from the Chair

They say “It takes a village to raise a child” and I believe that is true for so much more in our modern, busy lives. It takes a village to support our aging population and to keep our local services local. It has taken the community’s support to raise over $16 million for the Commitment to Care Campaign.

THANK YOU to everyone who helped to achieve this amazing goal.

THANK YOU to every volunteer, school class, service club, corporation, business, community member, and fundraising event host. Every dollar raised and every hour volunteered means so much to making the future of our health care system available to all of us.

This fall, Headwaters Health Care Centre will break ground to build an 8200 square foot Ambulatory Care expansion that will provide expanded clinics in areas such as orthopaedics and reconstructive plastics, as well as a new Chemotherapy Suite with satellite pharmacy. With these changes and growth, Headwaters is leading the way in quality local health care. As Chair of the Headwaters Health Care Foundation Board, I am so excited to be a part of this transformation.

When I think of how lucky we all are to have great health care close to home I honestly have to say my reasons for working so hard with our Foundation are selfish ones. I am the father of two outgoing and active boys, who have grown so incredibly fast. I have a wonderful wife and my parents and my in-laws who are, variously, working, baby-sitting, travelling and enjoying the fruits of their busy lives and careers. When I think of how hard we all work to stay on top of busy lives I know how important it is to me that if, and unfortunately when, one of these people needs medical help we have a strong local hospital that will be there for us now and in the future.

With new initiatives like the Headwaters Innovators, a growing number of community events being held on the behalf of Headwaters Health Care Foundation, the success of the Auxiliary’s Second’s Count store downtown Orangeville, and new signature events like Tour de Headwaters to compliment our already successful annual gala and golf tournament and all of your ongoing support, I know that our hospital is in good hands looking forward.

I encourage you to keep up to date on our activities by visiting our website, following us on Facebook and Twitter or stopping in to the Foundation office to speak with our wonderful staff. THANK YOU again to all of you who have made the Commitment to Care Campaign and the future of Headwaters Health Care a resounding success!
