A passionate fundraiser in the health care sector, K.C. Carruthers joined the Foundation as the CEO in December 2021.

K.C. brings decades of successful charitable sector leadership to Headwaters including senior roles in the health care and education fields, and for organizations both national in scope and community based. He has built meaningful relationships with philanthropists and volunteers at organizations that range in size from one-person shops to multi-level health and education systems. In his personal time, K.C. enjoys the great outdoors for walks, camping, the beach, or in his canoe – or indoors with some favourite music, a movie night or trying out new recipes in the kitchen.

Meghan Cleeves is the Officer, Board of Directors & CEO Support. Meghan’s background is primarily within the hospitality industry, giving her over 10 years of experience in customer service. In her spare time, Meghan enjoys spending time outdoors and with her friends and family.

Meghan’s confident, positive and outgoing personality has made her a great addition to the Foundation team.

Christine Patterson is the Development Officer of Events & Community Engagement. Christine brings over 10 years of experience in the events industry, with a background of over 20 years in hospitality and customer service.

Christine is passionate about creating experiences and working with people. Being organized and her ability to problem solve are two of her key strengths. In her time away from work she enjoys exploring new places with her husband and two daughters, spending time with friends and reading or catching up on her favourite tv shows.

Joel is the Director of Philanthropy

Joel joined the Foundation in April 2023 with over 31 years of fundraising leadership experience developed at four universities, two hospitals, two food security organizations, and a national youth mentoring charity. Joel has also accumulated 21 years of board member experience with six charitable organizations. According to Joel, developing new relationships and helping people come together to make an enormous difference in the communities where they live and work, is his greatest reward. Recent health needs of his family has led Joel to express “I can’t think of a greater mission than to help provide the very best health care tools and patient care facilities possible.”

In his personal time, Joel enjoys time with his family, plus hammock camping, straw-bale gardening, 3D-printing, and playing the violin.

Shauna Santarossa is the Marketing, Communications and Donor Relations Officer at Headwaters Health Care Foundation. Shauna’s background has been in the political world, working with former Member of Parliament David Tilson before his retirement and most recently as the Director of Community Outreach for Dufferin-Caledon M.P. Kyle Seeback. Shauna has been committed to growing her network in the community and looks forward to finding innovative ways to recruit new donors. Shauna is passionate about utilizing digital marketing and maximizing influence through all social media channels.

In her personal time, Shauna appreciates spending time with friends and family outdoors. In the summer months, you can find her on the golf course most weekends and in the winter, Shauna enjoys snowmobiling with her family.

Jennifer Sharp started with Headwaters Health Care Foundation in 2006 and is the Manager of Finance & Analytics. Jennifer is responsible for all things revenue related and data management. Jennifer also works with the Finance, Investment and Audit Committees. Jennifer’s calm and confident nature allows her to work well with peers and volunteers.

Prior to joining HHCF, Jennifer worked for the Canadian Marketing Association, as Event Coordinator. Jennifer also worked at BrassRing Canada coordinating job fairs for the IT sector.

Jennifer currently volunteers with the Royal Canadian Legion as Membership Chair and sits on the Executive Committee.

Nicole Warren (Colie) is the Senior Development Officer of Annual Giving at Headwaters Health Care Foundation. Nicole presents a strong enthusiasm when working with all social media platforms and website platforms and understands the ever-changing digital world. She has been able to transfer what she has learned and incorporate that into successful direct response and donor stewardship. Nicole is an avid traveler and whenever she isn’t at work she is either hiking or cycling with her dog Zoey. Oh, and she loves to shop.
