Headwaters Health Care Centre Unveils New Digital Sign Donated by Hospital Auxiliary - Seconds Count Thrift Store

November 22 2017

November 1 2017, ORANGEVILLE – Shortly after opening the doors to its new Ambulatory Care Centre on September 18, Headwaters Health Care Centre has unveiled a state-of-the-art digital sign, located outside the main entrance of the hospital at 100 Rolling Hills Drive.

Donated to the hospital by the Headwaters Health Care Auxiliary volunteers who manage and operate the Seconds Count Hospital Thrift Store, the new state of the art sign has been a labour of love and a long-time goal for both the hospital and Auxiliary. “This digital sign is an incredible gift, and a wonderful addition to the hospital and community,” said Stacey Daub, President and CEO of Headwaters. “Not only does it symbolize our innovation and modern approach to health care, but it is also an important tool for connecting with the community we care for, and communicating important news and information.”

Headwaters plans to use the sign to advertise events and hospital updates, as well as community messages, and wayfinding messages to assist patients during the hospital’s ongoing redevelopment and maintenance projects. It can also be used to communicate life-saving information in the event of a hospital or community emergency, such as evacuations or missing persons.

“We are so proud to be able to provide this gift to the hospital, our patients and the community as a whole,” said volunteer Shirley Bennett, who donates her time to managing Seconds Count and directing the store’s success. “Through the work of our tireless volunteers, wonderful donations from our community and our great customer base, Seconds Count has been able to provide funding to purchase life-saving equipment. Our next purchase will be three high resolution monitors for the Radiology department to better diagnose disease. Including this sign, Seconds Count has funded more than $250,000 for our Hospital.”

Since opening in October 2014, Seconds Count has been a successful venture for the Auxiliary. Staffed and managed entirely by volunteers, the store sells high-quality, gently used Home Decor, Books and CDs, antiques, jewelry, and men and women’s clothing, accessories, and footwear, donated by the community. All net proceeds help fund equipment purchases for Headwaters.
