Do you know what type of Equipment this is? - Fall Newsletter

This is a CO2 Incubator used in our Laboratory Department.

The CO2 Incubator produces an optimal environment for the growth of bacteria that thrives in a carbon dioxide enriched atmosphere like strep throat, bacterial influenza and meningitis. This allows the lab technicians and technologists to isolate and identify pathogenic organisms. This machine is able to isolate and identify any of these organisms onsite, and quickly determines which antibiotics are likely to be effective in treating an infection.

The Lab at HHCC performs almost one million tests each year, and these volumes dictate a need for two new machines! This equipment provides timely results to our clinicians, so they can effectively determine a treatment plan for our patients.

Purchasing two of these vital machines at a cost of $10,500 each, will allow our lab technicians to perform a variety of tests for Emergency, Ambulatory Care Clinic and in-hospital patients. Your support today will ensure the hospital is able to purchase these pieces of equipment and make the care at Headwaters even better.
